Network Monitoring at Daresbury : Traceroute Page
Using this facility will result in a traceroute being initiated from this machine to
your machine. Traceroute is designed to discover the route across the Internet between
machines. This will result in a train of UDP packets being directed at your machine
and if you run a firewall their arrival may be notified to you. This is not an attempt
to gain access to your machine but is the normal operation of traceroute.
